Evaporation of a sub-micrometer droplet

Using the model described here, we have studied evaporation of a sub-micromiter argon droplet held in a container with the temperature of the container's walls kept fixed. The evaporation process is triggered by a sudden rise of the walls' temperature.

All the movies below have been encoded with MEncoder. To watch the movies DivX codec must be installed in your system.

movie (3.9 Mb)

Evolution of the density and the temperature just after the temperature of the container's walls has been raised. The density and the temperature are in units of critical density and critical temperature correspondingly. The unit of length is approximately 5A, and the unit of time is roughly 3ps.

movie (2.0 Mb)

Evolution of the density and the temperature at coarser time scale. The density and the temperature are in units of critical density and critical temperature correspondingly. The unit of length is approximately 5A, and the unit of time is roughly 3ps.
